We offer en-suite luxury self-catering accommodation for environmentally-aware tourists. Our open plan barns are powered by solar and ground source heat with a rainwater harvesting system for the toilets and washers. All paint finishes are natural and organic and local lambs wool cocoons the barns to keep them snug. For guests with plug-in hybrid cars, both cottages have complimentary outside electric charging points

Just like a hotel, our deluxe self catering barns are available on a nightly basis, offering you all the advantages of 5-star accommodation at a fraction of the price. Heated limestone floors, double ended spa baths with organic aromatherapy oils and soft fluffy bathrobes ensure your stay is relaxing and organic with a privacy and freedom not enjoyed in most hotels.

 

BADGER HOLLOW

A traditional Cornish winding lane leads to the secluded but accessible setting for Badgers’ Hollow. Set in the grounds of an old Watermill, Badgers’ Hollow is a private barn with its own drive and parking. From the gravelled parking area, limestone steps lead up to a large terrace with garden furniture and stunning views over Fowey and the rolling countryside towards the sea.

Badgers’ Hollow has been converted from the old cider barns of the mill and is open plan and spacious in design. The sleeping area has super kingsize or twin beds and has a natural, organic feel. Guests can sleep ‘green’ and comfortable in the knowledge that the teak furniture is FSC accredited from sustainable sources and the walls are either finished in natural lime render or 100% natural based paints and lambs wool cocoons the natural oak clad exterior walls. There is a balcony leading from the bedroom which overlooks the millpond and orchard, which catches the evening summer sun, allowing guests to maybe enjoy a Cornish Camel Valley wine whilst observing the buzzard hunting for mice in the orchard, the entertaining antics of the ducks or moorhens on the mill pond.

The sitting area opens onto the terrace and has a modern wood burning stove for the cooler evenings. There is internet, satellite LCD TV and complementary Netflix. The kitchen is fully equipped with Neff appliances including a fridge/freezer, microwave, washer, dishwasher and Gaggia bean to cup coffee machine.

The luxury spa bathroom has a grand elegant feel with beamed high ceiling, stunning walk in wet room style shower and sunken Jacuzzi spa bath. The Fluffy bathrobes and towels, warmed limestone flooring, aromatherapy oils and Soya candles make bathing an organic luxurious experience.

To balance our negative environmental impact, Badgers is powered by 100% renewable energy, solar panels heat the water and the under floor heating comes from a ground source heat pump. Any back up power is provided by green electricity. There is a rainwater harvesting system for the toilets and clothes washer.

This barn is available on a nightly basis for self-catering with and please note pets are not permitted in this barn.

 

WHITE WILLOW BARN

White Willow is our newest luxury eco-barn, completed in June 2009, The open-plan design is cool and contemporary and exquisitely furnished with leather corner sofa and cowhide rugs, fairtrade wood and exposed slate and lime walls. The luxurious experience continues with Italian limestone floors gently heated by our ground source heat pump.

The stylish bathroom has a part sunken Jacuzzi bath with a waterproof tv, natural soya candles and aromatherapy oils and soft bathrobes provided add to the organic but luxurious ambiance.

The kitchen is fully equipped with granite and slate work surfaces, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, electric oven, Gaggia bean to cup coffee machine and a large American style fridge/freezer.

The bedroom has a kingsize bed with organic filled duvet and pillows and fairtrade sheets. It is hard to get out of bed in the morning with a Bose radio/cd, tv and fantastic views down the valley towards Fowey and the sea. Guests can relax under the covered veranda which has been decked in summer and winter jasmine and passion flower.

The solar dried oak cladding on the North side is insulated with local lambs wool to keep the barns snug and cosy but for the chillier evenings there is a contemporary log burner and logs are provided free of charge.

White Willow sleeps 2 people and is available on a nightly basis.

Dogs
Dogs can be accommodated in White Willow by arrangement. Due to badgers, horses and wildlife, dogs must be kept on a lead in the grounds. We are in the countryside and in one direction are coastal walks and in the other, riverbank walks. Dogs must not be left unattended in the accommodation or allowed on the furniture.
