Directions for travelling to Fowey, Bodinnick and Polruan by car

From the M5 in Devon the Fowey Estuary is reached by either the A30 or the A38/A390.
From West Cornwall the area is best reached by using the A390.
Please note our directions may use a different route to that shown by satellite navigation, this is to avoid narrow, single track lanes where congestion can easily occur. If in doubt, you can always purchase one of our local maps in advance via our ONLINE SHOP
For Fowey
From the A30 leave at the Bodmin exit following signs for Lostwithiel, B3268 / B3269.
Take the B3269 towards Lostwithiel until reaching the T-junction with the A390.
Here turn right onto the A390 and follow signs for Fowey.
After about ½ mile take the first left, back onto the B3269, continue for about six miles.
At the mini roundabout go straight across, this leads into Fowey via Polvillion Road.
From the A38 at the roundabout after Dobwalls take the exit onto the A390, St Austell.
Once you have passed through Lostwithiel, turn left onto the B3269 to Fowey.
After about six miles you will reach Fowey.
At the mini roundabout go straight across, this leads into Fowey via Polvillion Road.
From West Cornwall from the west follow signs for St Austell and the A390.
Leave the A390 at the roundabout junction with the A3082.
Continue on the A3082 through Par following signs for Fowey.
At the mini roundabout take the last exit, this leads into Fowey via Polvillion Road.
For Lanteglos and Bodinnick
From the A30 leave at the Bodmin exit following signs for Lostwithiel, B3268 / B3269.
Take the B3269 towards Lostwithiel until reaching the T-junction with the A390.
Turn left onto the A390 and continue through the town for about two miles.
Turn right into Cott Rd, continue to the junction, go straight across into Lanwithan Rd.
Continue through Lerryn (approximately five miles).
Continue on through St Veep and Penpoll and up to the junction (approximately four miles).
The junction is onto Lanteglos Highway, from here you can access all of Lanteglos.
For Bodinnick turn right and continue approximately one and a half miles.
Please note: this route uses some narrow lanes but is the most direct route from the A30, the route from the A38 below uses more main roads and may be preferable.
From the A38 at the roundabout after the Dobwalls bypass take the exit onto the A390.
At East Taphouse turn left onto the B3359.
Continue approximately five miles, turn right signed Bodinnick, Polruan and Fowey via Ferry.
After approximately four miles is Lanteglos Highway from here you can access all Lanteglos.
For Bodinnick continue approximately one and a half miles.
From West Cornwall follow signs for St Austell and the A390.
After St Austell leave the A390 at the roundabout junction with the A3082.
Continue on the A3082 through Par following signs for Fowey.
At the mini roundabout go straight across following signs for docks and vehicle ferry.
Take the vehicle ferry to Bodinnick, the cost for a single car trip is around £3.00.
On leaving the ferry go straight up the hill for Bodinnick.
Or for Lanteglos follow the road round to the left and continue approximately one and a half miles to Lanteglos Highway.
Much of Lanteglos may also be accessed by turning right for Polruan approximately three quarters of a mile after leaving the ferry.
For Polruan
From the A30 leave at the Bodmin exit following signs for Lostwithiel, B3268 / B3269.
Take the B3269 towards Lostwithiel until reaching the T-junction with the A390.
Turn left onto the A390 and continue through the town for about one mile.
Turn right into Cott Rd, continue to the junction, go straight across into Lanwithan Rd.
Continue through Lerryn (approximately five miles).
Continue onto St Veep and Penpol and up to the junction (approximately four miles).
At the junction turn right and after about half a mile turn left signed Polruan.
Continue just under two miles to the junction, turn right and continue about two miles into Polruan.

From the A38 at the roundabout after the Dobwalls bypass take the exit onto the A390.

Continue on the A3082 through Par following signs for Fowey.

On leaving the ferry follow the road round to the left.
After approximately one mile turn right signed Polruan.
Continue just under two miles to the junction, turn right and continue about two miles into Polruan.
Although our directions concentrate on Fowey Bodinnick and Polruan they can be helpful for finding other locations in the area. We suggest using the the inital directions from the main roads and then following signs in conjunction with the guidance below.
Par and St Blazey are both clearly signed from the A390, in fact you will pass through St Blazey whilst on the A390.
Golant is situated about three miles outside of Fowey on the B3269. It is best reached by following the A390 from either direction and turning on to the B3269 for Fowey.
Tywardreath sits adjacent to Par and about four miles from Fowey, either follow the directions above for Golant taking the signed turning for Tywardreath from the B3269 or come through Par from the A390 and follow the signs from there.
Polkerris and Menabilly are situated just off the A3082 half way between Fowey and Par. From the west come through Par and you will pass the sign on the way to Fowey. From the east follow the directions to Fowey and at the last mini roundabout in the directions take the last exit to come away from Fowey and after about two miles you will turn left.
Lostwithiel is situated on the A390 about six miles from Fowey and is clearly signed from all directions.
Lerryn and St Winnow are situated between Lostwithiel and Lanteglos follow any of the directions above for Lanteglos and you will either pass through Lerryn or see signs for it. St Winnow is signed between Lerryn and Lostwithiel.

From Lostwithiel Street to Station Road drivers may find the streets narrow and congested at times.
