Kayak Trips, Kayak Hire & Stand Up Paddle Board Lesson & Tours in Cornwall on the Fowey Estuary
Cornwall Tourism Award winner Encounter Cornwall has been running guided kayak trips and kayak hire since 2006 from The Boathouse in Golant at the heart of the Fowey Estuary and now with the addition of Paddle Cornwall SUP we are adding Stand Up Paddle Boarding lessons and Tours, two fun ways to get out on the water.
Our year round kayak trips and SUP lessons and tours are an ideal introduction to the Fowey’s tidal waters, and are suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers, offering an ideal opportunity to explore the Fowey Estuary. Kayak hire is also available to experienced paddlers.
For those who have never tried SUP our New 2 SUP is the perfect session for you. If you have tried SUP before then a SUP Taster & Tour could be the way to go, an opportunity to hone your skills and gain tidal knowledge. For those who are no stranger to SUP you may prefer a Tour and Explore Session with a qualified instructor as your guide.
Whatever your preference, Kayak or SUP, we have a session that will be perfect, just for you!
Explore the River Fowey at your own pace
From our quiet Golant village base, a world away from Fowey's busy waterfronts, our Kayak, Canoe and SUP / Stand Up Paddle Board Hire service allows those with previous experience the chance to explore the Fowey River at their own pace. Standard hire is for up to 4 hours, and while you can request a departure time we suggest you paddle with the tides at the times we recommmend. On the high tide you can paddle the Creeks and Backwaters from Golant, and enjoy the unique scenery and varied wildlife. Low tide paddles take you down to Fowey Harbour and its historic waterfronts. We can also arrange full day (8 hours) hire periods for those intent on some more serious water based exploration of the estuary and its many contrasts.
Whatever your plans, kayak, canoe and SUP hire gives you complete freedom to explore at your own pace - and perhaps stop for a quiet Creekside picnic or just a rest amongst the peaceful beauty of it's foreshores. With off the beaten track villages to visit and the coastal port of Fowey and Polruan to discover, your paddle is the key to unlocking this magical area.
