The Shriek-Wreck Museum

About

Spooky stories of sunken ships and haunted tunnels await visitors to the Shipwreck Museum in Charlestown this October Half Term (19th October – 2nd November) during their scary Shriek-wreck event.

Descend the candlelit tunnels beneath the museum for a horribly fun time where you can hear ghost stories, sing spooky sea shanties with a pirate and tremble as your voices echo down the passageways.

There will also be the chance to spot some of Captain Blackbeard’s cursed pirate ships whilst exploring the museum on a treasure hunt.

The fearsome pirate leader’s fleet has returned from the mysterious Devil’s Triangle where they disappeared 300 years ago! Look out for the ghost ships around the museum and claim some pirate treasure at the end of your voyage.

Youngsters will also find awful arts and creepy crafts activities where they’ll be able to make skull and cross bones pirate masks to frighten their friends amongst the pumpkins, sailor skeletons and cobwebs at the museum.

The Shipwreck Museum are also encouraging little ghosts and ghouls to don their best Halloween fancy dress for the October Half Term event too!The Shipwreck Museum is located above Charlestown Harbour in the UNESCO World Heritage Site and houses one of Europe’s largest collections of shipwreck finds with over 8,000 artefacts on display.

Objects range from Ancient Egypt and Roman periods, to surprising modern-day discoveries. Visitors will even be able to view the world’s only intact barrel of coins to ever be recovered from a shipwreck.
